Psychology  Erik Erikson’s Stages of Psychosocial Development

refer to chart in Erik Erikson’s Stages of Psychosocial DevelopmentPsychosocial TheoryI am 20 years old btwThe basic tenet of the psychosocial theory is that development occurs throughout life in a series of stages. Refer to the chart in the book. Based on your age, which stage of development does the theory predict you are currently facing? You may feel that the previous stage or the stage following better reflects your current life situation. In 1½ to 2 double-spacedtypedpages, discuss your stage of psychosocial development by addressing the following questions.1. Where does the theory place you in the life stages?2. Do you believe that there is a close fit between thedevelopmental tasks and psychosocial crisisand your current life circumstances? (It may be helpful to turn to the relevant chapter and briefly review the tasks and crisis.)3. If so, briefly discuss them. If not, what stage better addresses your life stage?Remember that the ages in the theory are not set in stone. Failure to successfully complete a stage can result in a reduced ability to complete further stages and therefore a more unhealthy personality and sense of self.  These stages, however, can be resolved successfully at a later time.

Psychology  middle age

This week we are discussing middle age.  As you recall from Chapter 1, there are several aspects of aging:1) Biological aging refers to how the body functions and changes over time especially in relation to metabolic changes. In middle age, the body is undergoing catabolism (slow deterioration from the body’s peak to death).2) Psychological aging – how one feels about his/her age; perception of personal age.3) Social aging – how one’s chronological age is viewed within society or cultural context and is affected by occupational or socioeconomic status. For this week’s discussion, select a middle-aged person that you know and discuss these three aspects of aging and how they relate to your person.  Please use at least three references to the text (chapters 15 and 16)  in your response.  No need to respond to peers.  Please make sure that you are reading the right chapters on middle adulthood.

Psychology  Discussion Board

In Western societies, parents typically scaffold their young children’s mastery of challenging tasks, communicating with the child in a way that resembles the teaching that occurs in school. But in cultures that place less emphasis on schooling and literacy, children may be expected to take greater responsibility for acquiring new skills through observation and participation in community activities, as described in the Cultural Influences box on text page 188.Give examples of how culture influences young children’s cognitive development. Why is it important to consider cultural influences when conducting research with human subjects?

Chapter 10 discusses various theories about why we dream and what dreaming is. The author states, “Although our understanding of sleep and dreams continues to grow, major questions remain.”Prior to reading the text material about dreams, what was (is) your belief about why we dream, and what our dreams may mean? Tell us about a weird dream you had and how you made sense of it at the time.  After reading the material related to theories of why we dream, apply what you learned to your past ideas about dreams….do you think any different about dreams and dream interpretation?3-4 pagesat least four citation

Psychology  Assignment: Creating a Single-System (Subject) Design Study

Assignment: Creating a Single-System (Subject) Design StudyThe steps at the heart of single-system (subject) research are part of the everyday practice of social work. Each day social workers implement interventions to meet clients’ needs and monitor results. However, conducting proper single-system (subject) research entails far more than these simple day-to-day practices. Proper single-system research requires a high degree of knowledge and commitment. Social workers must fully understand the purpose of single-system (subject) research and the variations of single-system (subject) design. They must develop a hypothesis based upon research and select the right design for testing it. They must ensure the reliability and validity of the data to be collected and know how to properly analyze and evaluate that data. This assignment asks you to rise to the challenge of creating a proposal for a single-subject research study. To prepare for this Assignment, imagine that you are the social worker assigned to work with Paula Cortez (see the case study, “Social Work Research: Single Subject” in this week’s resources). After an initial assessment of her social, medical, and psychiatric problems, you develop a plan for intervention. You also develop a plan to monitor progress in your work with her using measures that can be evaluated in a single-system research design. As a scholar practitioner, you rely on research to help plan your intervention and your evaluation plan.Complete the Cortez Family interactive media in this week’s resources. Conduct a literature search related to the chronic issues related to HIV/AIDS and bipolar mental disorder. Search for additional research related to assessing outcomes and theoretical frameworks appropriate for this client. For example, your search could include terms such as motivational interviewing and outcomes and goal-oriented practice and outcomes. You might also look at the NREPP database identified in Week 1, to search for interventions related to mental health and physical health.By Day 7Submit a 5- to 7-page proposal/research plan for single-system (subject) evaluation for your work with Paula Cortez. Identify the problems that you will target and the outcomes you will measure, select an appropriate intervention or interventions (including length of time), and identify an appropriate evaluation plan.Include a description of:The problem(s) that are the focus of treatmentThe intervention approach, including length of time, so that it can be replicatedA summary of the literature that you reviewed that led you to select this intervention approachThe purpose for conducting a single-system (subject) research evaluationThe measures for evaluating the outcomes and observing change including:Evidence from your literature search about the nature of the measuresThe validity and reliability of the measuresHow baseline measures will be obtainedHow often follow-up measures will be administeredThe criteria that you would use to determine whether the intervention is effectiveHow the periodic measurements could assist you in your ongoing work with Paula

Psychology  discussion4 whats the problem A&B

Discussion A – Week 4COLLAPSEDealing With DataDiscussion A (Required for all students)Review the assigned pages in Gladwell’s Outliers as well as the articles on statistics. Consider how statistical data were used in the examples in the Learning Resources.Identify two examples in the Learning Resources and explain how statistics were used in each example. State whether statistics were used effectively in each example, and explain why. Finally, explain a strategy you could use to ensure the data you collect and interpret is done in a reliable manner.By Day 3Post a minimum of 100 words to Discussion Question A.Be sure to support your ideas by connecting them to at least one of this week’s Learning Resources. Additionally, you may optto include an academic resource you have identified or something you have read, heard, seen, or experienced.By Day 5Respond to the posts of at least two different colleagues. One must be a response to a colleague’s post about the question you did not select. Respond in one of the following ways:Share an insight from having read your colleague’s posting.Expand on your colleague’s posting.Click on the Reply button below to reveal the textbox for entering your message. Then click on the Submit button to post your message.Qualitative and quantitative data is often used together to get a holistic picture of the study subject. Since both require different vantage points the way they are studied needs different approaches, different processes and different data gathering protocols. The question is asked, “what types of information do we need to understand the subject matter and solve the problem?’Discussion B (Select B or C)Chapter one in Malcolm Gladwell’s book Outliers provides a simple statistical analysis of birthdates of hockey players. Adding a similar assessment of soccer players, he then draws conclusions about the system that shaped these sportsmen. Post an evaluation of Gladwell’s use of quantitative data by explaining whether he collected and interpreted his data in a reliable manner. Provide support for your position.By Day 3Post a minimum of 100 words to your choice of Discussion Question B.Be sure to support your ideas by connecting them to at least one of this unit’s Learning Resources.Additionally, you may optto include an academic resource you have identified or something you have read, heard, seen, or experienced.By Day 5Respond to the posts of at least two different colleagues. One must be a response to a colleague’s post about the question you did not select. Respond in one of the following ways:Share an insight from having read your colleague’s posting.Expand on your colleague’s posting.Click on the Reply button below to reveal the textbox for entering your message. Then click on the Submit button to post your message.Research is about gathering information and categorizing it. Anytime you make categories, you then force people to “fit” within those artificial divisions in order to meet the needs of the organization. Exceptions to the categories should be built in to be most effective. Time constraints, lack of funding and a scarcity of organizational resources means that individuals are forced to adapt to the categories. In the case of the hockey players you add the bias of size and coordination that is then multiplied by the individual attention of the coaches and the increased play of the traveling teams and the performance gap widens. the irony is that this is all seen as normal and a sign of the individual differences in the players not a systematic bias.
