Psychology  For anyone

First, refer to the Tracks and Topics for the Final Project document and select a track and a topic within that track that you would like to focus your final project on. (Note: In this document, you are provided with three articles for each topic, but you will need to find two additional articles in Module Three to use for your final project.)Choose your track and topic thoughtfully as you will not be able to switch your track and topic once chosen. Do not worry if you are not familiar with the tracks or topics at this point in the course; you will be learning much more about them throughout the term. Please be sure to contact your instructor if you are having any trouble choosing your track.Next, analyze one of the articles within the tracks, which will provide practice for your literature review. When you complete your literature review, you will be addressing more specific elements. These questions are the first thing to think about when beginning a literature review. Keep in mind that these questions are practice and preparation for the more detailed literature review elements to come. What is the title of the article? Provide a citation for the article in APA format. What is the purpose of the article? What is the hypothesis of the study? In other words, what claims do the authors make in the article? What variables (factors) are being looked at as an influence on social thinking? If these variables or the relationship between these variables have been studied before, what does the article indicate about the findings of previous studies? This shows historical significance.Describe the research design that was used in the study.Do you think the research in this article was conducted in an ethical manner? Why or why not? Each question requires an answer in one to three sentences, although you can write more if needed. This should result in a journal assignment that is around one page in length. Be sure to cite directly from the sample article to support your answers.

Psychology  Assignment: Replication, Generalization, and External Validity

In the Discussion for this week, you addressed one of the threats to the internal validity of a study, that is, confounding variables. This Application Assignment will challenge you to consider possible threats to external validity. Generalization is the extent to which relations among variables in research studies can be demonstrated among a wide variety of people and across different settings. When the results of a research study are generalizable to additional populations and settings, the study demonstrates external validity. However, if a research study is only valid for the particular sample used in the study, then it is not very helpful to the study of psychology. In the example provided in the Discussion introduction, two online student groups used different study strategies. Now imagine a human resource (HR) manager at a corporation, struggling with the concept of reading comprehension among employees in the workplace setting, wanted to try the new study strategy that the online course instructor had researched. Assume that the online college course instructor had resolved possible issues relating to internal validity and found that the new study strategy was effective at improving reading comprehension. The HR manager presumes that the results of the study with online college students will generalize to her training course at work. However, the replication of the study revealed that, although the new strategy was found to work well for online students, the results did not generalize to the training course in the work setting. Therefore, the original study lacks external validity.Replications of studies, such as the one in this example, are essential to demonstrate generalization and external validity. This week, you will learn about four types of replication procedures, and you will develop original examples of each procedure with the goal of demonstrating generalization and external validity. To prepare:Review Chapter 13 from the course text.Stangor, C. (2015). Research methods for the behavioral sciences (5th ed.). Stamford, CT: Cengage Learning. The Assignment (1–2 pages):Explain the four different types of replications and the purpose of each. Include for each type of replication a brief original psychological study example (i.e., make up your own) that is different for each type of replication (i.e., do not build on the same example). Plan to devote a short paragraph for each.Briefly explain how replications relate to the concepts of generalization and external validity.Note: Support the responses within your assignment with evidence from the assigned Learning Resources. Provide a reference list for resources you used for this Assignment.

Remember to use scholarly research from peer-reviewed articles that is current. I have also attached my discussion rubric so you can see how to make full points. Please follow the instructions to get full credit for the discussion. I need this completed by 01/09/19 at 5pm.Discussion – Week 7Assessing Mood DisordersMood problems often constitute a primary reason why parents seek professional help for their children or adolescents. Most often, mood problems include irritability, sadness, or anger. A certain amount of moodiness and impulsivity is normal during childhood and adolescence; therefore, it makes it exceptionally difficult to diagnose children and adolescents with conditions such as clinical depression or bipolar disorders. One of the most challenging elements in counseling is objectively assessing whether a child or adolescent has a mood disorder. Cultural and family factors are one reason this is challenging. At times, these factors are directly the cause of the mood disorder or contribute to the stress or distress of children and adolescents. Therefore it is important to use a systematic, objective, and dispassionate procedure for gathering data about children and adolescents when conducting assessments. For this Discussion and subsequent Discussions, consider these questions: a) Where does the child’s or adolescents problem originate from, and b) Does the problem stem from the child or adolescent, or is it the family or other factors? By asking these questions, you can more accurately assess a child’s or adolescent’s problems and create evidence-based interventions to address the right problem effectively. Select a case study in this week’s Learning Resources, and consider the child’s or adolescent’s presenting problem and where the presenting problem may originate. With these thoughts in mind:Post by Day 4 a brief description of the presenting symptoms of the child or adolescent in the case study you selected. Then, explain one possible reason the child’s or adolescent’s problem exists and why. Finally, explain one intervention you might use to address the child/adolescent or parent/guardian in this case study. Be specific and support your response using the Learning Resources and current literature.Be sure to support your postings and responses with specific references to the Learning Resources.Bottom of FormRequired ResourcesLearning ResourcesPlease read and view (where applicable) the following Learning Resources before you complete this week’s assignments. This page contains the Learning Resources for this week.
