Paul Zolbrod’s study of Native American poetry suggests that the literature demonstrates, “how rich an oral tradition can be; …a fundamental capacity for verbal creativity; and…a range of style and technique along with a wholesome variety of themes, ideas, and attitudes” (83).

1. Identify examples from the selected poems that support and/or refute the qualities of Native American poetry suggested Zolbrod’s statement (above).
