Psychology  midterm

1. Describe the research psychologists have found with regard victims of sexual assault and Rape Trauma Syndrome. How has this affected the way victims are treated in the court system?2. Explain how psychological studies have served to educate law enforcement officers about domestic violence.3. Billy Jones punches Chad Keller at a local bar after Chad makes a comment about Billy’s clothing. Because Billy and Chad have always disliked each other, the incident soon escalated into a brawl. During the fight, both parties were injured and several pieces of furniture were broken. How should the situation be resolved?4. The biological theory of crime states that people may be predisposed to certain criminal behavior due to genetic factors. Social-psychological theories see crime as learned behaviors gained through social interactions. Using an example of your own, illustrate how these two theories may work together.5. Discuss four (4) ways in which law enforcement may employ interrogation techniques to elicit a confession.

Psychology  Discussion Post Help

Discussion: Nature Versus Nurture: Epigenetics and the MicrobiomeEpigenetics is the study of changes in gene activity that do not involve direct alterations to the actual genetic code. There is a relationship between genes and traits, and the bridge between the gene or genes underlying a trait is a protein. Genes are the code for building proteins, and once built, proteins carry about many functions in the body and they are ultimately responsible for behavioral traits. How is it decided what specific genes get turned on or off? The patterns of gene expression (protein manufacture) are governed by the cellular material—the epigenome—that sits on top of the genome, just outside it (hence the prefix , which means “above”). It is these epigenetic “marks” that tell certain genes to switch on or off. It is through epigenetic marks that environmental factors like diet, stress, and prenatal nutrition can make an imprint on genes, and this imprint can be passed on over generations. With epigenetic changes, the DNA itself does not change, but the way individual genes within the sequence are expressed (or turned on or off) does change.Alternatively, the infant microbiome has been shown to play a role in future health, and this is influenced by the exchange of maternal microbes. There is evidence that this is even linked to autism and other developmental aspects such as communication and cognitive performance. To prepare:Choose an area to focus your discussion: epigenetics OR the microbiome. You will then respond to a classmate who chose the one that you did not.If you chose epigenetics, read about gene-by-environment effects (also called gene x environment or G X E) in the Champagne and Mashoodh (2009) article. The particular example you will examine is epigenetic programming due to variations in maternal care. Specifically, in rodent models, it was found that maternal behavior such as carefully licking and grooming the pups was tied to a decreased stress response and lower levels of exploration fear in the pups. Mothers that displayed low levels of pup licking and grooming had adult offspring with a heightened stress response. This study provided evidence that epigenetic changes can underlie the long-term impact of early life experiences. For this Discussion, consider the personal and social implications of gene x environment interactions. Also consider other gene x environment interactions future research will be most likely to discover based on your introduction to this new topic. If you chose the microbiome, read about  how the infant gut microbiome is associated with brain development, cognitive development, mental health, including autism, language, and the immune system. For this Discussion, consider the personal and social implications of a healthy microbiome, both for you and infants that are yet to be born. With these thoughts in mind:By Day 3Post your response to the following:If you chose to write about Epigenetics: Explain how epigenetics provides a new perspective on the nature versus nurture debate. Also, reference the Champagne and Mashoodh (2009) article, and provide an explanation of how the rat-nurturing example can further explain human parental behavior. In addition, explain the broader social implications of this type of research. Finally, share your prediction of and rationale for what other gene x environment interactions future research may discover. If you chose to write about the Microbiome: Explain how microbiome research provides a new perspective on the nature versus nurture debate. Discuss how the infant microbiome is related to future development of a child, including cognition and health. In addition, explain the broader social implications of this type of research. Finally, share your prediction of and rationale for what future microbiome research may discover.

Psychology  Cognitive Dissonance, Social Attribution, Learning and Instruction

QuestionApplying theories to learning and instruction becomes problematic when theories contradict one another. For example, while cognitive dissonance theory asserts that beliefs and behaviors can influence attitudes, social attribution theory holds that people make causal inferences to explain others behaviors, actions, and mental states. In this assignment, you will contrast cognitive dissonance theory and social attribution theory, and you will consider how cognitive dissonance theory and attribution theory could be applied to improve learning and instruction. You will also consider the potential for personal worldview to countermand cognitive dissonance.Discuss;1. the theoretical perspective and current research on cognitive dissonance theory. Provide examples that support the research claims.2. the theoretical perspective and current research on social attribution theory. Provide examples that support the research claims.3. how cognitive dissonance theory and attribution theory could be applied to improve learning and instruction. (Benchmarks C3.4: Apply the theories of cognitive psychology to learning and instruction.)4. personal worldview as a means to countermand cognitive dissonance. How might a distinctly Christian worldview function in this role?Requirements; At least 6 citationAll citations/referenced should not be older than 2015Only scholarly articles are to be cited/referencedAPA format1500-1750 words****DO NOT PLAGIARIZE****Due June 22nd 2020 by 11.00 pm

Psychology  culture and child birthing

n this activity, we will examine cross-cultural issues related to child-rearing, particularly with infants. We will look at two specific topics: sleeping arrangements and attachment. Read the following articles:http://cosleeping.nd.edu/assets/29735/gettler_co_sleep..bio_cultural.pdfhttp://ideas.ted.com/how-cultures-around-the-world-think-about-parenting/http://www.attachmentacrosscultures.org/research/http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3433059/Then find someone who grew up in a culture different from your own. Remember that culture can be defined in many ways. You can also find an interviewee from the class by posting a request in the Cybercafe.  Interview them about infant sleeping arrangements and attachment behavior practices. Also ask them how infants are welcomed in their culture.Report what you found as well as what culture you are describing. Be sure to use ONLY a first name or a pseudonym and to tell us which two cultures you are comparing. What conclusions about these topics did you draw after the reading and interviews?

Psychology  Assignment 2: RA 2: Treatment Plan

This  paper must be perfect in every way no room for mistakesIn this assignment, you will compare developmental treatment plan options for the given scenario and discuss strategies for multidimensional interventions, including a needed crisis management plan.Scenario:You have been hired as a counselor working in a drug and alcohol counseling center. One of your patients is a man named Connor, aged 75 years. Connor left school at 16. He has never had a job that lasted longer than a few months. He has a long string of criminal offences (burglary, shoplifting, etc.). He is an alcoholic and is believed to have been drinking heavily since the age of 17. He has two adult children by different women. Both partners have said that he was violent toward them. His daughter, Laura (aged 27 years), and granddaughter, Samantha (aged 6 years), currently live with him. Laura has a history of cocaine abuse, which started in her early teens. A child protection agency has established that Laura recently left her child, Samantha, on her own when she went out to obtain drugs. She is attending parenting classes at the insistence of the child protection agency, which has made it clear that it will take steps to prevent Samantha from remaining in Laura’s care if she does not address her drug habit. Laura is often depressed and has little self-esteem. In spite of Connor’s history of violence toward her, she cannot imagine not living with her father as she looks to him for security.Contents of a Treatment PlanA mental health treatment plan should include a brief, clear statement of the treatment objectives and interventions and be easily understandable by all involved. The plan should specify what the clinical mental health counselor, a friend or a family member, and a client will do to address each identified goal and state who is responsible for each identified action and expected outcomes. The objectives for each identified need must be realistic and achievable and completed within an agreed-upon time frame.Treatment plans are based on the most current assessment of the client’s needs and any identified risk factors. Proper assessments should consider psychiatric symptoms and medical and physical needs. Risk factors, drug and alcohol problems, social issues, accommodation issues, family (including parenting) issues, and personal issues should also be considered, although not necessarily all need to be commented on. The treatment plan should only reflect current priorities for the client.Clickherefor a sample treatment plan.InstructionsCompare treatment plan options for Connor based on theories of adult development. Choose a plan and describe treatment goals for Connor using the plan. Discuss strategies that are mindful of how development is multidimensional for both Connor and Samantha and include a crisis management plan for Samantha. Finally, create a wellness plan for both Connor and Samantha, which promotes a healthy relationship. Wellness plans typically include five areas of focus: (1) emotional wellness, (2) physical wellness, (3) nutritional wellness, (4) social/relational wellness, and (5) spiritual wellness.Clickherefor a sample wellness plan.It is important to note that the samples that are provided are to be used as guides. The sample wellness plan shared above is for adults, so you have to modify it for Samantha considering her age. As you create your own treatment and wellness plans for this family, be sure to include any additional information that you believe will be beneficial in your work with Connor and Samantha.Your final product will be a 4-page Microsoft Word document written in APA format, utilizing at least six scholarly sources. Your paper should be written in a clear, concise, and organized manner; demonstrate ethical scholarship in accurate representation and attribution of sources; and display accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
