Building a More Ethical and Responsible Food System Essay

Write an essay about a specific change (such as a policy, a food access solution, an environmentally sound practice, an animal ethics approach, etc.) that could be made to build a more ethical/responsible food system. Provide clearly explained reasons for your choice that draw on course readings, and explain how the change would contribute to a more ethical/responsible food system. To begin, think about the upstream/downstream distinction. In your paper, you must focus on solutions besides the “vote with your dollar” level of individual consumer choice.

Basic essay requirements:

–1,000 words minimum

-12-point standard font (Times New Roman, Calibri, etc.)

-Double-spaced

-File attachment upload

-Proper use of attribution and citation for all ideas employed form the work of others—can use your preferred system (Chicago, MLA, etc.) but please stay consistent within the document.

-Include works cited list as final page of document.

-Must use at least two in-class scholarly readings (one book = one source unless it is an edited collection with different authors for each chapter) and one other scholarly reading (from your own research findings) to support your argument. This does not include links/websites, poems, Food, Inc. or the NCC response to Food, Inc., or anything that is not an academic book chapter or journal article.
