I NEED A POSITIVE CMMENT BASED IN THIS ARGUMENT..BETWEEN 100-120 WORDS</ins>

One personal strength I have regarding professional presentations is my confidence in myself. I feel confident in my ability to speak appropriately, and to speak clearly, getting my point and presentation across well. Unfortunately, one of my weaknesses is overconfidence. I tend to wait last minute, not properly practice, and overall procrastinate my work. When giving a presentation, this can cause a disruption during the presentation. Without giving myself time to know my work inside and out, forward and backward, I can get caught flat-footed if asked something I don’t remember right away.

According to Khare (2013), one of the ways to make a good presentation is to be prepared. To do this, she suggests having a “well-practiced and timed speech” (Khare, 2013). This would help me with my weakness of overconfidence as it will allow me to know my work better. It will help me to avoid being caught flat-footed, as I would be able to pick up where I left off if interrupted, as well as finish in a timely fashion. But, I have to be careful not to get too caught up in the presentation itself. “Know your stuff so you can let go and be yourself” is advice given by Debra Russell when asked by the Forbes Coach Council (2016). This is important for me to remember too, as this directly plays into my strength and weakness. At the end of the day, the information given is only part of the presentation. How I present it is important too. Being able to connect with the audience is as important as giving the information. This is why it is important for me to not only know my strengths and weaknesses, but also how to improve on them.

References:

Forbes Coach Council (2016). 10 Ways To Improve Your Presentation Skills.
