Look at the results of\u00a0the\u00a0fitness assessments that you have been doing in the labs.\u00a0 Consider which\u00a0component you need improvement on or that you want to address first. \u00a0Using the SMART principles,\u00a0set one long-term and 2 short-term\u00a0fitness\u00a0goals for yourself.\u00a0 Your goals should address one of the five components of fitness (i.e. cardiovascular endurance).\u00a0\u00a0 Your long term goal will be the big picture and your two short term goals will be achievable in a shorter time frame so you can experience some success as you work toward your long term goal.\u00a0 You will then use these goals\u00a0as the focus of \u00a0your personal fitness plan, which is due at the end of the semester.\u00a0\u00a0Many of you mentioned goals in your first discussion board assignment. \u00a0For the most part, these were very vague and didn’t give a definite end result. \u00a0These goals need to be VERY specific with a defined outcome.<\/p>\n

An example of a SMART long term fitness goal:\u00a0 I want to run 3 miles without having to walk in 7 months.<\/p>\n

An example of a SMART short term fitness goal for the long term goal:\u00a0 I want to run 1 mile without having to walk in 4 weeks.<\/p>\n

Examples of \u00a0goals that are not SMART:\u00a0 I want to exercise more. \u00a0I want to eat healthier. \u00a0I want to get in shape. \u00a0I want to eat more fruits and vegetables. \u00a0I want to work out 3 days a week. \u00a0These are NOT specific or\u00a0measurable and are lacking a time frame.\u00a0 Your goals should be directly related to a component of fitness and NOT what you intend to do to accomplish it.\u00a0 That would be your fitness plan, which you will begin working on soon. \u00a0(I will run 3 days a week for 20 minutes. \u00a0This is a plan, not a goal, in terms of this assignment)<\/p>\n
