Suppose that the Butler County School District wants to hire you to create and<\/p>\n
implement a health promotion program. Specifically, they would like to have a<\/p>\n
health education program (like D.A.R.E.) that will teach students about<\/p>\n
dangers of illegal drug use, so that students who currently use them would<\/p>\n
learn to stop.<\/p>\n
a) What are the steps you\u2019re likely to take to create and implement such<\/p>\n
program? (HINT: see five steps of the Generalized Model)<\/p>\n
b) What would you do (or not do), if your needs assessment data shows that<\/p>\n
the school district has very little problem with drug use, but has very big<\/p>\n
problem with sexually transmitted disease?<\/p>\n
c) For now, let\u2019s assume that drug use is a big concern for the school district,<\/p>\n
and you\u2019ve created a health education program about illegal drug use, as<\/p>\n
requested. Before full implementation, you\u2019ve conducted a pilot test for 20<\/p>\n
students to see if your program is effective. Pilot test showed that your<\/p>\n
education program is ineffective at changing students who already use<\/p>\n
drugs. Worse, it looks like some students that never used drug before are<\/p>\n
now showing signs that they want to try those drugs you mentioned in the<\/p>\n

our own behavior, and perhaps have us succeed with our New Year\u2019s<\/p>\n
resolution.<\/p>\n
