Networks and actors ( lecture )
What do you all make of the idea within Actor-Network Theory that non-humans can contribute to networks as actors or “actants”? Anyone have any examples of this?
In the tobacco article, it states that “An actor–network begins with the pursuit of a new goal (one that does not yet have an institutionalized system in place to deliver it) and evolves as it seeks to enroll others as participating actants.” How might non-human actants participate in an emerging system?
