You completed your article summaries in Module 3. The next step is to complete a critical analysis of each article. For each article, ask yourself these questions when completing this section of your Information Retrieval Paper.

  • What were the strengths of the research? Were a significant number of participants studied in an appropriate setting that can be applied in a broader sense?
  • What were the limitations of the research? Was the environment controlled?
  • What did the author leave out?
  • Were barriers identified and addressed?
  • Could the findings be implemented with purpose and expected outcomes?

The sample size for this study involved proportionately small group of people comprising of children and women. Around 30 involved participated in the study. The study was conducted by the American Health Association. The study was conducted in Arizona. The nursing unit where the research occurred did not represent a wide population. Question: why the researchers in this study did not involve men? The population involved in the study was relatively small and hence it was possible to review patient records, perform biochemical analyzes and ask the subjects to complete research questionnaires. The research question was addressed in short space of time. The data of the study was not robust enough to explaining the complex issues.
